In thePfalz wine area in Germany I composed three pillars of wine barrels. The shape was inspired by the endless column of Brancusi, one of the first abstract, folk-art inspired sculptures. The columns in Kirrweiler are connected to village life, that is based since many centuries on winemaking, though the stacked wine barrels take on a new shape and new meaning. Also village life has changed and taken a new direction. The villagers supplied me with their broken porcelain. Applied to the columns, it shows fragments of a shared history and a contemporary culture.
