Natura naturans is a Latin tag coined during the Middle Ages, meaning “Nature naturing”, or more loosely, “nature doing what nature does”.
For Respirarte in Bolzano I made a ‘tree of life’, a new species that is a combination of various cut of tree stumps and branches. It is in it’s colourful appearance a totem for nature and new ways it may develop. But it can also be seen as a confronting image where nature is going as a reaction to human actions.
