Six environmental artists from across the world, created a tribal and ritualistic circle, refering to the famous Dance painting by Matisse. Acknowledging their relationship with nature, the artists emersed themselves with the rythms and vibrations of their environmental living systems. For this piece the artists engaged in a symbolic dance with nature, endorsing the need of consciousness about the role we humans have in the web of life. It was shown with an accompanying soundscape at Landart Andorra 2021.
This international artist collaboration (ZAC-Zest Artist Collective) was founded during the lockdown caused by the Covid pandemic. The artist share a professional, site-responsive, nomadic, nature-based arts practice. Unable to travel and meet, they connected virtually through weekly meetings and still have intensive exchanges. Meeting online they research and brainstorm new concepts in relation to their current existence and the impacts on their own country’s ecology.
Members of the group are: Lucia Loren (Spain), Imke Rust (Namibia/ Germany), Elena Redaelli (Italy), Karin van der Molen (The Netherlands), Karen Macher Nesta (Peru), and Sally Kidall (Australia).
