Earth tunnels

Earth Tunnels pays tribute to the history of land art, referring to one of the first landart works, that became emblemic for this new current in the sixties: the Sun Tunnels of Nancy Holt. This work offered a new vision on light, perspective and environment. In my site specific artwork I share the general goal of the land art movement: offering a special focus or an intensified experience of nature in the city of Kaunas.
The three tube elements represent a link between nature and culture. The three pieces of a pipe are like the links of a chain. The concrete tubes are an urban element, they offer a place of refuge and silence in the city under a growing ceiling of greenery. It may inspire local people to follow its example and turn concrete into greens.
