Not in my backyard

Reminiscent of gas and oil pipes and containers, this installation refers to our double bind to the presence of industrial shapes in nature. The pieces are covered with traditional carpets, that I found in the streets and the villages in East Poland where this land art exhibition took place. The design of the carpets is often based on  gardens and plants. The use of the carpets refers to the man made and designed landscape in Europe. Beautiful and tactile on the art piece, but as a whole it poses the question of the how, why and desirability of alien objects in nature.
On the other hand I was told by visitors that the piece is also experienced as a place of ritual. Maybe the rituals performed here spontaneously may bring about new thoughts about our relation to nature.
