TRANSIENT was an exhibition in two seperate parks in Denmark. The artists were asked to make two different but connected works.
An unbearable lightness of being
For Liselund Park I envisioned the transience of life romantic, melancholic but with elegance, just like the Liselund Park itself. The skull is covered in white feathers, and it is graciously balancing on the contours of a boat on the pond. It is the embodiment of the life-death contrast: pointing to beauty, tenderness and the vulnerability of life.
Vanitas is my ephemeral skull-installation, floating on air. The wind takes the boat and blows through the open structure of the skull. The materials, hay and willow, reflect the transient character of the idea behind the sculpture. It is about time and space, and at the same time it is echoing the spaciousness of the park. No thoughts left, just moving on naturally.
