This is not a pipe, to parafrase Magritte, but this sculpture does suggest the possibility of a pipeline under and over this little river. Pipelines are abundant and run above street level in many parts of the world. It made me conscious of the fact that we tend to accept foreign and thus irritating objects in the landscape. They are added to the landscape that takes shape in our head and become another natural element.
