The Bubble/This is not a pipe is a bamboo sphere shaped like an industrial gas container. The sculpture refers to the many industrial forms that are part of the contemporary landscape. If we like it or not, these pipelines, containers and the like are absorbed in the environment, urban and natureral alike. The Bubble also refers to the general denial of society of what is actually happening. Consumption at the cost of nature is just one of the bubbles that are hard to leave behind. The Bubble as a sculpture is innocent, but it’s implication is a widely shared worry.
