My ephemeral land art project Refugio/La casa de los sueños in Holguin (Cuba) is a place for dreams about the future, inspired by the past. A number of aspects come together that are central to me: poetry of nature, cultural exchange, revaluation of traditional, local and ecological materials, resulting in a work of art that connects people and nature. In Cuba, a country that has been in survival mode for so long, knowledge of local materials, reuse and tradition is of enormous importance to its own population, but is also synonymous with poverty. Revaluation of this valuable knowledge is important in my project. Traditional knowledge is not only important for Cubans, it can also provide innovation in a world that is looking for ecological solutions.
